REFCOM: F-Gas Accreditation

Refrigerants are chemicals operating in a liquid or vapour state circulating throughout many Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump system components at different pressures and temperatures with the function of adding or removing of heat from a designated area.

Without it many Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump systems cannot operate and depending on refrigerant type, leakage of the substance has different environmental implications.

Refrigerants fall broadly into two categories that are natural (Halogen free) or fluorinated (known as F-Gases) with each type having different levels of environmental ozone depletion and/or global warming potential (GWP) impact.

GWP is the climate temperature rise of the refrigerant relative to its carbon dioxide equivalent and F-Gas refrigerants with high GWPs are currently being phased down due to the Montreal Protocol and EU regulations.

Customised Consulting employs appropriately qualified personnel in a sufficient number to cover the expected volume of activities in the installation, commissioning, decommissioning, repair, maintenance or servicing of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment containing F-Gas refrigerants.

We have the necessary tools and procedures available to engage in Category 1 FGas activities in accordance with the European Commission FGas Regulation 2015/2067. This enables us to work on all systems under or over 3kg (5 Tonnes CO2 eq) or hermetically sealed systems over 6 Kg (10 tonnes CO2 eq).

We are certified through Refcom who have been promoting environmentally responsible refrigerant management since 1994, and in 2009 were appointed by the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to operate as a certification body under the stationary equipment provisions of the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulations.
