Environment Agency: Registered Waste Carrier

Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps systems contains many chemicals with the potential to damage the environment such as waste refrigerants, oils, chemical cleaners, etc.


The transport of waste is highly regulated ensuring that waste is properly and legally disposed of with non compliance resulting in fines of unto £5,000.


The requirement to register as a carrier or broker of controlled waste is contained within the Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 and the Controlled Waste (Registration of Carriers and Seizure of Vehicles) Regulations 1991.


The regulations require that any person who transports or makes arrangements for management of waste in the course of any business to register with an enforcing authority.


The transport of waste is controlled and enforced in England and Wales by the Environment Agency. This differs for Scotland and Northern Ireland who are enforced by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA).


We are Registered as an upper tier waste carrier, broker and through the Environment Agency under regulation 28 of the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011.
